Congratulations, members of the class of 2016! You’ve worked hard, survived four (or more!) years of classes and homework, and you finally got to walk across the stage to receive your diploma. You earned it, but we bet you didn’t do it alone. There were probably a lot of people behind the scenes helping you along the way, and before you start the next chapter in your life, it’s important to say “thank you” to the special folks who supported you and celebrated with you.
We have a large array of thank you cards designed just for graduates. Stock up on them to say “thanks” to those who attended your graduation party, taught you a special lesson or encouraged you on your journey through school.
Not sure what to write? Follow these suggestions!
1. Always handwrite your notes.Unless you have the worst chicken scratch on the planet, take a pen in hand and scrawl out your sentiments instead of reaching for a printer. There’s something special about receiving a handwritten note of thanks, and the recipient will definitely appreciate the personal touch.
2. Be specific.Hearing “thank you” is always nice, but it means even more when followed with a specific example. Instead of just saying “thanks for the graduation gift,” say, for example, “thank you for the pen set.” Then, write about how much you appreciate the gift or how you plan to use it. For example, you could write “Thank you for the generous gift at my graduation. I’m going to put the money towards my textbooks for next semester,” or “Thanks for the pen set – I plan on using it a lot in college next year and will think of you every time I do!”
Including these details makes your letter even more personal.
3. Speak from the heart. This is the most important rule to follow, especially if you are thanking someone for supporting you throughout school. Let them know how much you appreciate them and how they’ve helped you over the years. They’ll cherish your thank you card forever!
